Reboot after oracle installation

Yes it has occurred twice when installing an oracle client on a SQL Server 2008r2 server. Everything works fine until you want to create a linked server using the oracle driver. You choose the “Oracle Provider for OLEDB” and your system hangs.
Nothing you can do unless rebooting your OS. Thanks very much Larry.

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (RTM) – 10.50.1600.1 (X64)
  • Oracle Client 11g R2

World peace can wait; let’s first get rid of oracle.
